Veteran Nigerian gospel singer and evangelist Toun Soetan has passed away at the age of 73.
News of her death was announced on social media by gospel comedian Woli Agba and gospel musician Peter Olaniyi, who both paid tribute to the late music minister.
In an emotional message, Woli Agba described Soetan as a legendary figure whose life and ministry were dedicated to spreading the message of Christ.
He wrote that the gospel icon had lived a life that consistently reflected her faith, adding that she had “transitioned into glory” to be with Jesus.
Woli Agba also prayed for comfort for her husband and family, particularly her spouse, Titus Soetan.
Peter Olaniyi also mourned the late singer, describing her passing as the loss of another gospel legend. He offered prayers for her family and husband during the difficult time.
Following the announcement, tributes have continued to pour in from gospel artistes, church leaders and fans who remembered Soetan as a mentor and inspiration in Christian music ministry.
Throughout her career, Soetan built a reputation for songs that resonated deeply within Christian worship circles. Among her most well-known works is the popular gospel song Darling Jesus.
She was also celebrated for other songs including Ke Pe Jesu and Cast Your Burdens, which remain widely used in churches and worship gatherings.
