Gospel singers Nathaniel Bassey and Victoria Orenze have expressed their condolences following the death of American conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was fatally shot on September 10, 2025, during a speaking engagement at Utah Valley University.
The shooting occurred around 12:20 p.m. in a student courtyard, which was reportedly secured by six university officers. Kirk, 31, was a prominent figure in American politics, known for his role in Turning Point USA and as a close ally of former President Donald Trump.
On social media, Bassey prayed for Kirk’s peaceful rest, writing: “Pained. Rest in the Lord, Charlie Kirk.”
Victoria Orenze described him as a “true soldier of Christ,” posting on Instagram:
“TRUTH CANNOT BE KILLED! TRUTH CANNOT BE SILENCED! TRUTH CANNOT BE STOPPED! Charlie Kirk, a true soldier of CHRIST, is with THE TRUTH (JESUS CHRIST)!!! What glory! His wife, children and family are wrapped by the comfort of the HOLY GHOST in JESUS’ name!”
She added a warning to believers: “We are clearly in the last days… We must boldly stand for JESUS CHRIST (THE TRUTH)!!!! We can’t play church anymore!!!! These times were foretold! John 16:2.”
In response to Kirk’s death, former President Donald Trump ordered flags to be flown at half-staff and attributed the tragedy to the “radical left.” The incident has sparked global grief and widespread outrage.
Authorities continue to search for the suspect, with closed-circuit TV footage aiding the investigation. The FBI and ATF are involved, and Utah Governor Spencer Cox has indicated the possibility of capital punishment for the perpetrator.
