The Nigerian Military has again emphasized its dedication to securing the Tidibale community in Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State as displaced residents return home.
This comes as Major General Bemgba Paul Koughna, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 8 Division and Commander of Sector 2 Joint Task Force (North West) Operation FANSAN YAMMA, paid an inaugural assessment visit to the Area.
The visit was detailed in an official statement signed by Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, the acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for the 8 Division.
General Koughna addressed the community, affirming that the military is fully committed to restoring normalcy and protecting both lives and property. His visit follows reports of residents fleeing the area due to threats from bandit groups.
“Troops are now stationed in Tidibale to ensure a strong security presence,” the General stated. “We remain vigilant and prepared to respond swiftly to any emergencies. No part of this community will fall under the control of bandit groups.”
The GOC further noted that this deployment is aimed at enabling residents to resume their daily socio-economic activities, especially farming, without the fear of attacks. He encouraged the community to support the military’s efforts by staying alert and promptly reporting any suspicious activities to security forces.
In response, the Sarkin Arewa, Alhaji Ibrahim, expressed the community’s gratitude for the visit and noted that the military’s presence has instilled renewed hope among residents. He assured the GOC of the community’s cooperation in the ongoing quest for lasting peace in the region.
The visit began at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Isa, where the GOC received an operational briefing from Lieutenant Colonel Nasiru Mustapha, Commanding Officer of the 26 Battalion. The briefing detailed the current security landscape and the progress of ongoing operations in the sector.
As efforts continue to restore stability, the Nigerian Army remains committed to working collaboratively with the Tidibale community to ensure a safer and more secure environment for all.
