Nigerian forward Gift Orban has received strong praise from Hellas Verona manager Paolo Zanetti following the 22-year-old’s match-winning performance against Fiorentina in their Serie A clash on Sunday.
Verona significantly boosted their survival hopes by securing a hard-fought 2-1 away victory against the Viola, with Orban scoring both goals for the Yellow and Blues.
The impressive brace brought the Nigeria international’s contribution to four goals and one assist in his 12 appearances for Verona so far this season.
Manager Zanetti stated that Orban’s excellent display was not a surprise to him, emphasizing the confidence he has in the forward:
“I’m happy for Orban and his brace. I expected it because I see him every day. I believe in him as much as I do in the others, but there are moments we all have to overcome together,” Zanetti was quoted by TMT.
Zanetti’s comments highlight that Orban’s daily commitment in training led the coach to anticipate such a decisive performance, suggesting the young Nigerian will be key to Verona’s bid to avoid relegation this season.
