Organisers of the Gaza-bound aid flotilla say one of their boats was struck in a suspected drone attack late Tuesday night, marking the second such incident in as many days.
The British-flagged vessel Alma, carrying aid and pro-Palestinian activists, was docked in Tunisian waters when it reportedly came under attack. According to the Global Sumud Flotilla, the strike caused fire damage to the ship’s upper deck, though no casualties were reported.
“Second night, second drone attack,” flotilla coordinator Melanie Schweizer told AFP, underscoring growing concerns about the safety of the mission.
AFP journalists on the ground observed the vessel at a distance, encircled by Tunisian law enforcement boats with flashing lights as authorities assessed the situation.
The incident follows a similar suspected UAV strike on another flotilla boat a day earlier, though Tunisian officials at the time denied detecting any drones in the area.
Despite the back-to-back attacks, the activists remain undeterred. They announced that the flotilla would continue its journey toward Gaza on Wednesday, reaffirming their commitment to challenge Israel’s long-standing blockade.
“Our peaceful voyage continues,” organisers declared, vowing to press forward “with determination and resolve.”
