Prominent pundit and Manchester United icon Gary Neville remains convinced that Arsenal will secure the Premier League trophy this season, though he anticipates a grueling conclusion to their campaign. Sharing his analysis on Sky Sports, Neville suggested that Mikel Arteta’s squad will ultimately persevere, describing their potential path to victory as “crawling over the line.”
The dynamics of the title race shifted significantly over the weekend. The Gunners’ lead at the summit was trimmed to just six points following a surprising 2-1 defeat at Bournemouth, while a clinical 3-0 victory for Manchester City over Chelsea applied further pressure. Neville attributes the recent dip in Arsenal’s performance to the immense psychological weight of attempting to end a long-standing championship drought.
“Arsenal will crawl over the line. I don’t think they’ll get over the line easily, they might even lose next week, but I do think they’ve probably got a little bit of a cushion,” Neville explained during the broadcast.
While acknowledging that the momentum currently favors the defending champions, Neville pointed out that Pep Guardiola’s side is not without its own vulnerabilities. However, he did concede that the landscape of the title race has darkened considerably for the North London side compared to their outlook prior to the weekend’s kickoff.
“Manchester City aren’t perfect, and Arsenal will just get there, but they’re in a lot more trouble than they were at 12.30pm on Saturday, when they were just about to kick off against Bournemouth,” he added.
