Blockbuster filmmaker Funke Akindele is set to bring her record-breaking film Behind The Scenes to a global streaming audience, with its Netflix premiere scheduled for April 3.
The move comes after an impressive run in cinemas, where the film grossed more than N2.7 billion, making it the highest-earning Nollywood title to date.
The production also made history as the first Nigerian film to surpass the N2 billion mark, achieving N512 million within just 12 days of release.
Its commercial success extended beyond Nigeria, with strong performances recorded in markets such as the United Kingdom, Ireland, North America, and Canada.
Produced by Akindele alongside Wendy Uwadiae Imasuen, the film features a star-studded cast, including Scarlet Gomez, Uzor Arukwe, and Tobi Bakre.
Behind The Scenes explores themes such as generosity, family bonds, and personal responsibility, elements that have resonated with audiences throughout its theatrical run.
The upcoming release also marks Akindele’s return to Netflix since her earlier success with Omo Ghetto: The Saga, reinforcing her strategy of premiering films in cinemas before transitioning to streaming platforms.
Distributor FilmOne confirmed the development, noting that the film’s transition from cinemas to home viewing reflects its widespread appeal.
With its streaming debut, Behind The Scenes is expected to reach an even broader audience, further cementing its status as one of Nollywood’s most successful productions.
