University authorities in Gombe State have issued a clarification following widespread online reports suggesting a security breach at the Federal University of Kashere, saying the information is false and misleading.
In a statement released on Saturday, the university’s Chief Information Officer, Janet Ezekiel, dismissed the reports as a deliberate attempt to cause unnecessary panic among students, parents and the general public, as well as to disrupt the institution’s ongoing first semester examinations.
Ezekiel stressed that no attack or security incident occurred within or around the university community, urging members of the public to disregard the claims being circulated on social media.
She explained that the management of the Federal University of Kashere, working closely with relevant security agencies including the police, has the situation fully under control, noting that academic and administrative activities are continuing without interruption.
The information officer further reassured parents and guardians that there is no cause for alarm, adding that the safety of students and staff remains a top priority of the university.
Ezekiel also advised the public to rely solely on verified and official communication channels of the Federal University of Kashere for accurate and credible information, warning against the spread of unverified reports that could fuel fear and misinformation.
