Renowned Fuji musician Obesere was violently attacked during a performance in Okitipupa, Ondo State, after a group of thugs allegedly led by notorious hoodlum Michael Abbey, popularly known as Emir, invaded the venue.
The incident happened on Friday at the Government Field, where the singer had been invited to entertain guests at a burial ceremony. The atmosphere reportedly shifted abruptly when the gang stormed the stage and unleashed chaos.
Witnesses said guests fled in panic as the attackers descended on the musician and his team. In the melee, Obesere’s manager, who tried to protect him, was stabbed with a broken bottle.
According to reports, the assailants also made away with the singer’s mobile phone, wristwatch and gold chain, as well as a bag reportedly containing ₦4 million in cash.
A guest, Bosede Akinyemi, who witnessed the attack, described the scene as horrifying. “A gang of local thugs attacked Obesere and his band while they were performing on stage. It was disgraceful,” she told journalists.
