The organisers of the Ballon d’Or, France Football, have outlined the three criteria that will determine the winner of this year’s prestigious award ahead of Monday night’s ceremony.
According to the magazine’s CEO, Vincent Garcia, he remains the only person who knows the winner before the announcement.
Garcia explained that the award will be decided based on:
- Individual performances – decisive and impressive displays
- Titles achieved over the season
- Fair play and behaviour on and off the pitch
The 2025 Ballon d’Or race is expected to be a close contest between Paris Saint-Germain’s Ousmane Dembele and Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal.
Manchester City’s Rodri is the current holder, having edged Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior to claim the prize last year.
