
France has matched Argentina’s record for the most Ballon d’Or titles following Ousmane Dembele’s 2025 victory in Paris.
Before Dembele’s win, Argentina held the outright record with eight awards, all claimed by Lionel Messi. France has now drawn level on eight wins, achieved through six different players, including Michel Platini, Zinédine Zidane, Karim Benzema, and Dembele.
Germany, the Netherlands, and Portugal are tied for third with seven wins each, while Italy, Brazil, and England follow with five apiece.
