Nollywood actor Olanrewaju Omiyinka, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, has been released from prison after spending more than three years in custody on sexual assault charges.
The actor regained his freedom on Friday, November 14, 2025. His release was announced by fellow actor Yomi Fabiyi, who shared the news in an Instagram post on Friday evening, stating that Baba Ijesha had been cleared by the Appeal Court.
Fabiyi wrote that the judgment vindicated the actor, claiming the court discharged him of allegations involving a minor. “You are now officially free and out… I am also happy you were cleared by the Appeal Court of ever having sex/defile any child/minor,” he posted, describing the earlier accusations as a “charade.”
Baba Ijesha had been sentenced to 16 years in prison on July 14, 2022, by the Lagos State High Court after being found guilty of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl.
Further details on the Appeal Court decision and conditions of his release are expected.
