Former Nigeria international, Ahmed Garba, has expressed confidence that the Super Eagles will triumph over the Democratic Republic of Congo in the 2026 FIFA World Cup playoff final scheduled for Sunday.
The three-time African champions delivered a commanding 4-1 victory against Gabon in their semi-final clash, with talismanic striker Victor Osimhen scoring twice during extra time to secure the win. Meanwhile, the Leopards of DR Congo edged past Cameroon with a late goal in a tightly contested 1-0 semi-final encounter.
The two sides are now set to meet in Rabat, Morocco, with the winner earning Africa’s spot in the intercontinental playoffs.
“Our next game against DR Congo will be difficult as they were able to defeat Cameroon, who are a big team,” Garba told Footy Africa. “It will be a physical game and the boys will have to be up for it. I like how the team is developing, and I think we will be able to beat them. The Super Eagles have got their confidence back, and I see them defeating DR Congo.”
The upcoming showdown promises to be a high-stakes encounter as Nigeria aims to secure a place at the 2026 World Cup, reinforcing their ambition to return to the global stage after missing out on the last edition.
