Former Chelsea midfielder Oscar was rushed to hospital on Tuesday after collapsing during a training session, raising concerns about his future in professional football.
The 34-year-old Brazilian star reportedly fell ill during pre-season medical tests at São Paulo’s training ground, collapsing to the ground and remaining unconscious for up to two minutes. He was immediately transported to the Albert Einstein Israelite Hospital with suspected cardiac issues.
Oscar is currently in stable condition and undergoing a series of thorough heart examinations to determine the cause of the incident. The midfielder is reportedly considering retiring from football following the scare, according to UK Metro.
Off the field, Oscar is a father of two children—an 11-year-old daughter and an eight-year-old son—and his wife Ludmila is expecting their third child.
