Former Chelsea and Brazil midfielder, Oscar, has been discharged from the hospital following a heart-related incident that occurred during pre-season testing last week.
The 34-year-old collapsed while undergoing physical assessments at São Paulo’s training facility on Tuesday, prompting immediate medical attention.
São Paulo confirmed on Monday that Oscar left Albert Einstein Israelita Hospital on Sunday and remained “stable and clinically well” throughout his stay. The club added, “Extensive investigation carried out at the hospital confirmed that the player experienced an episode of vasovagal syncope.”
Vasovagal syncope is a type of fainting triggered by a sudden drop in blood pressure and heart rate.
The club also stated that Oscar “will now follow a medical rest programme for the next few days” before resuming full training.
Oscar began his professional career at São Paulo and returned to the club last year on a three-year deal running until 2027, following an eight-year spell in China.
