Allegations linking retired Army Chief Lt.-Gen. Faruk Yahaya to terrorism financing have prompted him to take legal action against retired Maj.-Gen. Danjuma Ali-Keffi and the media organizations that aired the broadcast.
According to retired Brig.-Gen. Sani Usman, former Army Spokesman, Yahaya’s legal team, led by senior lawyer, Mohammed Ndayako, served formal demand notices on the individuals and media outlets involved.
The notices, dated December 17, 2025, gave the parties 72 hours to retract the claims, issue unreserved public apologies, and halt any further dissemination of the statements.
The notices reportedly warned, “Failure to comply will trigger legal proceedings. False and malicious allegations of this nature are dangerous and capable of undermining public trust in national institutions and those who have served the nation with distinction”.
Brig.-Gen. Usman added that Yahaya’s legal action is intended not only to defend his personal honor but also to uphold professionalism, truth, and accountability, emphasizing that deliberate falsehoods will not go unchallenged.
