Manchester City forward Phil Foden has clinched the UEFA Champions League Player of the Week award for Matchday Four, beating Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen to the top spot.
Foden delivered a standout performance in Manchester City’s 4-1 victory over Borussia Dortmund, scoring two superb long-range goals as the Premier League champions secured their third win of the campaign, lifting them to fourth in the league-phase standings.
Osimhen was equally impressive on Wednesday night, netting a hat-trick to guide Galatasaray to a 3-0 win over Ajax. His treble — the Turkish club’s best start to a Champions League season — propelled them to ninth place in the standings.
The Nigerian finished second in the Player of the Week ranking, just behind Foden. Club Brugge’s Carlos Forbs, who scored twice and assisted once in their thrilling 3-3 draw against Barcelona, placed third. Arsenal midfielder Mikel Merino came fourth after scoring a brace against Slavia Prague.
Osimhen’s hat-trick — his first in the Champions League — also earned him a third consecutive Man of the Match award, a rare feat for a player of his age and experience. The 26-year-old now leads the Champions League scoring chart with six goals, underscoring both his lethal finishing and rising profile in Europe.
Galatasaray’s coach praised Osimhen’s contribution, noting that the forward had provided the decisive edge the team needed.
