Former Premier League referee David Coote has been formally charged with creating an indecent video of a child.
The 43-year-old is scheduled to appear before Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.
According to Metro UK, the charge relates to the production of an indecent image of a child, which under UK law includes activities such as downloading, saving, or sharing abusive photos and videos.
The case stems from a video uncovered by Nottinghamshire Police investigators in February. Coote had initially been charged in August and has since been on conditional bail.
His legal troubles follow an earlier scandal in December 2024, when Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) dismissed him after a separate video emerged showing him making abusive remarks about then-Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp in 2020.
