
Nigeria’s Flying Eagles will be without influential defender Adamu Maigari at the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup after the youngster picked up an injury in training.
Maigari, who impressed at the 2025 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations in Egypt, where Nigeria finished third, will not recover in time for the tournament. The right-back featured in all six matches in Egypt and was named Man of the Match once during the competition.
The setback comes as the Flying Eagles prepare to travel to Chile on Sunday for their final training camp. Head coach Aliyu Zubairu is expected to announce his final squad list on September 19.
Nigeria have been drawn in Group F alongside Norway, Colombia, and Saudi Arabia for the biennial tournament.
