Music star Flavour has responded to a social media critic who accused him of ignoring emerging Igbo artists in favour of personal projects and collaborations with comedian Odumeje.
The critic, identified as Charles, lamented that talented Igbo musicians across the Southeast struggle to gain recognition, alleging that Flavour prioritizes promoting celebrities over local talent. Charles wrote:
“We have wonderfully talented Igbo boys scattered all over the Southeast trying to survive in their music careers with no verse, no signing, no promotion from these so-called Igbo superstars. @2niteFlavour never deemed it fit to support any of these guys, instead he’s wasting money and time on a fake pastor and comedian Odumeje… Many of these young talents become jobless when their music careers fail.”
In response, Flavour delivered a pointed reply in Igbo, telling the critic: “Jee chuba ego, Chuta ego”, meaning “Go make money.” He advised Charles to take proactive steps by establishing his own music label to uplift talented Igbo artists, rather than relying on him.
Flavour added:
“I have given you people one serious advice for the new year. Jee chuba ego o. Chuta ego then start your own label make you help the wonderfully talented Igbo boys scattered all over. Make us proud Odogwu Charles.”
The exchange has sparked discussion online, with fans debating the responsibilities of established artists in nurturing emerging talent and the role of critics in holding celebrities accountable.
