Nigeria’s U-17 women’s national team, the Flamingos, have touched down in Casablanca, Morocco, ahead of the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
The team, led by Coach Bankole Olowookere, arrived in Casablanca around 11:28 a.m. on Wednesday following a smooth four-hour, twenty-minute flight from Abuja.
The players and officials are lodged at the Ibis Hotel, where they will settle in before holding a light training session later in the evening as preparations intensify for the global tournament.
As part of their build-up, the Flamingos are scheduled to play two international friendlies — first against New Zealand on Friday, and then against Paraguay next Tuesday.
Nigeria has been drawn in Group C, where they will face France, Canada, and Samoa in what promises to be a challenging group stage campaign.
The 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup will mark another opportunity for the Flamingos to build on their strong performances in previous editions, including their historic bronze medal finish in India 2022 — Nigeria’s best-ever result at the tournament.
Olowookere’s squad will be aiming to replicate that success and possibly go even further as they prepare to take on some of the world’s most talented young sides.
