Five construction workers sustained injuries on Thursday morning when a partially completed two-storey building collapsed at No. 5, Modupe Ola Street, Onipetesi Estate, Mangoro, Lagos.
The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service said it received a distress call at 5:39 a.m. and arrived at the scene at 6:24 a.m. with units from the Ikeja and Agege fire stations.
According to the agency, the building was originally a bungalow before the new owner began converting it into a two-storey structure. At the time of the collapse, construction was still ongoing while occupants remained on the ground floor. The rear section of the building gave way.
Controller-General of the service, Margaret Adeseye, confirmed that all five victims adult male construction workers were rescued alive with varying degrees of injuries and taken to hospital for treatment.
She added that no fatalities were recorded and that the situation has since been brought under control.
