A devastating fire has completely destroyed a six-room residential bungalow at Block D5, Ifedapo Estate, Amuloko, in Ibadan, causing the loss of properties valued at millions of naira.
The Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Services Agency, Moroof Akinwande, confirmed the incident in a statement on Saturday.
The fire, which occurred on Friday, was reportedly triggered by a domestic gas cylinder that was left unattended and subsequently exploded, engulfing the entire building.
According to Akinwande, the agency received a distress call at 2:53 p.m. from a resident named Odetunde. Firefighters, led by ACFS Amoo, were promptly dispatched to the scene.
“Upon arrival, the six-room bungalow was fully engulfed in flames. Our officers acted swiftly to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to neighboring structures,” he said.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported. Akinwande urged members of the public to report emergencies promptly and provide accurate addresses to ensure rapid response by the fire service.
