The Federal Government will on Monday convene a National Economic Council (NEC) Conference aimed at strengthening economic coordination and accelerating inclusive growth across Nigeria.
According to a statement issued on Sunday by the Media Aide to the Vice President, Stanley Nkwocha, the conference will be attended by governors of the 36 states and other key national stakeholders.
The two-day conference, scheduled for February 9 and 10, 2026, will hold at the Banquet Hall of the State House, Abuja, and is being convened by the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu.
Vice President Kashim Shettima, who chairs the National Economic Council, will preside over the conference.
The conference is themed “Delivering Inclusive Growth and Sustainable Development: The Renewed Hope National Development Plan” and is expected to provide policy direction to states as they align with the Federal Government’s long-term economic agenda.
Speaking on the conference, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning and Secretary of NEC, Dr. Deborah Oko Odo, said the forum would focus on pressing macroeconomic priorities.
“The conference will focus on national economic issues aimed at encouraging economic growth and development across the country,” she said.
Deliberations at the summit are expected to centre on fiscal coordination, investment mobilisation, and shared development strategies between the federal and state governments.
President Bola Tinubu will attend the conference as Special Guest of Honour, while senior government officials, development partners and private sector leaders are also expected to participate as part of efforts to deepen reforms under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
