The Federal Government has pledged to investigate allegations of child sexual abuse reportedly linked to the daycare centre run by singer Simi’s mother.
The controversy emerged after a TikTok user identified as Mirabel accused the facility of abuse, sparking widespread discussion online. Around the same time, some of Simi’s older posts on X resurfaced, leading to speculation about her comments on childcare.
Previously, Simi had expressed concern over the rising incidence of sexual assault in Nigeria, suggesting that perpetrators should face severe punishment. Her remarks generated online debate, with varying opinions from social media users.
In response to public pressure, the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) assured Nigerians that it is committed to investigating all credible claims of child sexual abuse and misconduct.
The agency encouraged anyone with verified information, evidence, or who has been affected to contact them confidentially. NAPTIP posted on its official X account:
“If you have factual information, evidence, or were directly affected, please reach out confidentially via DM or email info@naptip.gov.ng.”
The assurance signals the government’s intent to address public concern and ensure that all allegations of abuse are thoroughly examined.
