The Federal Government has commended celebrity chef Hilda Baci for her latest Guinness World Record attempt to cook the world’s largest pot of jollof rice.
Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, described the effort as “another demonstration of Nigeria’s global excellence.”
Idris, represented by the Director-General of the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON), Dr. Olalekan Fadolapo, gave the remarks at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos, where the record attempt is underway.
Baci, who earned international fame in 2023 after breaking the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon with a 93-hour stretch, is now attempting to cook 250 bags of rice in a custom-made pot measuring six metres wide and 1.3 metres deep.
“The Federal Government lauds Hilda Baci’s extraordinary effort in putting Nigeria once again on the global map. Her dedication to excellence and her unrelenting pursuit of greatness exemplify the Nigerian spirit that the world has come to appreciate,” Idris said.
He stressed that Baci’s journey highlights perseverance, hard work, and legitimate labour, adding that the Federal Government would continue to support similar initiatives that project Nigeria’s creativity and cultural richness to the world.
“We recognise and celebrate Nigerians like Hilda Baci who serve as ambassadors of our nation’s capabilities, talents, culture, and food,” he added.
The minister also praised the chef’s meticulous preparation and hygiene standards, saying they reflect the quality and integrity associated with Nigerian excellence.
Idris encouraged the thousands of young Nigerians at the venue to draw inspiration from Baci’s discipline and determination, urging them to channel their talents into ventures that benefit both personal growth and national development.
On behalf of President Bola Tinubu, the minister wished Baci success in her Guinness World Record pursuit, describing her effort as a “collective national victory in the making.”
