Fenerbahçe’s sporting director, Devin Özek, has arrived in Italy to spearhead high-level negotiations for Atalanta’s standout winger Ademola Lookman. The Turkish Süper Lig giants aim to secure the Nigeria international before the winter transfer deadline, presenting a staggering salary package worth €9m per season to entice the forward.
This aggressive recruitment drive follows Lookman’s continued desire for a fresh challenge, having previously attempted to force a move to Inter Milan during the summer of 2025.
The landscape of the deal changed significantly after Atalanta finalized the permanent acquisition of Giacomo Raspadori from Atlético Madrid earlier this month. With Raspadori now integrated into the squad as a versatile attacking option, the Bergamo-based club has signaled a new willingness to discuss Lookman’s departure. Fenerbahçe’s current proposal involves a strategic financial structure, offering an initial €5m loan fee for the remainder of the season paired with a mandatory €35m purchase obligation to be triggered in the summer.
While Atalanta previously demanded a rigid €50m valuation, multiple reports suggest that the total €40m package currently on the table could prove sufficient to seal the transfer. Lookman, who recently helped the Super Eagles secure a third-place finish at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, made his first club appearance of the year in a narrow Champions League loss to Union Saint-Gilloise. As the Yellow Canaries look to bolster their offensive ranks for a domestic title charge, the coming hours will determine if the 28-year-old finally secures his exit from the Gewiss Stadium.
