The nominees for the 2025 Best of Nollywood (BON) Awards have been announced, with Femi Adebayo’s Seven Doors emerging as the frontrunner, securing nine nominations.
Following closely is Ibrahim Yekini’s Abanisete with eight nominations, while My Mother Is a Witch and Farmer’s Bride earned seven and six nominations respectively.
The prestigious event is scheduled to take place on December 14, 2025, at the Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos. This year’s edition will also feature a Guinness World Record attempt for the longest red carpet, set to be held along the newly opened Coastal Road.
In the acting categories, Femi Adebayo (Seven Doors), Ibrahim Yekini (Abanisete), and Tobi Bakre (Farmer’s Bride) are among the top contenders for Best Actor, while Chioma Chukwuka, Folu Storms, and Efe Irele lead the Best Actress race.
The Best Director category features acclaimed filmmakers such as Niyi Akinmolayan, Adebayo Tijani, and Toka McBaror, while Seven Doors, Abanisete, and Farmer’s Bride are nominated for Movie of the Year.
Other key categories include Best Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Indigenous Movie, and Most Promising Actor/Actress, reflecting the diversity and depth of Nollywood storytelling.
Returning to Lagos after a successful run across various cities, the BON Awards continue to celebrate excellence, creativity, and resilience in Nigeria’s film industry. Stakeholders have praised the organisers for their consistency and dedication to spotlighting the best of Nollywood talent.
