Nigerian actor and filmmaker Femi Adebayo has shared how he and his team successfully tackled piracy while rolling out community screenings of his latest film, Ageshinkole 2: King of Thieves 2.
In an interview, Adebayo credited Circuit TV, one of his collaborators, for effectively managing the piracy aspect. He explained that the company’s strong content protection framework, combined with his distributor Blue Pictures’ logistical expertise, ensured the film remained secure while reaching audiences directly.
“Piracy was fully handled by Circuit TV. They have an extremely wonderful structure that prevents content from being pirated,” Adebayo said. “With Blue Pictures, we combined our experience and had no doubts that our framework and logistics would get it right.”
Ageshinkole 2 was released in December 2025 with a unique Community Cinema tour across Nigeria, a strategy that took the film directly to local communities rather than relying solely on traditional cinema halls. Adebayo described this approach as both a way to innovate film distribution and give back to fans.
The sequel, which builds on the success of the original Ageshinkole, offers viewers deeper drama, suspense, and culturally rich storytelling. The community screenings ran from December 2025 into early January 2026 and have contributed to the film grossing over N400 million in just 12 days.
Adebayo’s approach highlights a growing trend in Nollywood: leveraging community engagement and strategic partnerships to fight piracy while ensuring films reach audiences across the country.
