The Federal Government has launched the Tax Reform Challenge, a nationwide competition aimed at engaging Nigerian students on the country’s evolving tax reforms. The announcement was made on Friday by Taiwo Oyedele, Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, via his official X handle.
Designed to spark creativity and stimulate informed discussions, the challenge is open to undergraduates in all Nigerian tertiary institutions as well as graduates currently in the NYSC program or awaiting mobilisation.
According to Oyedele, the initiative seeks to raise tax awareness, deepen public understanding of the new tax laws, and inspire youth-driven contributions to the national conversation on fiscal reform.
As part of the competition, participants are required to study the newly enacted tax laws and create content in any of the following formats: articles, videos, podcasts, radio presentations, or social media posts published between 1 July and 31 December 2025.
Oyedele emphasised that entries must be educational, engaging, and fact-based, adding that constructive criticism of the reforms is encouraged. Submissions will be evaluated on creativity, factual accuracy, and their effectiveness in informing or engaging the public on tax-related issues.
Winners stand the chance to claim a share of ₦10 million in cash prizes, including:
1st Prize: ₦5 million
2nd Prize: ₦3 million
3rd Prize: ₦2 million
Beyond the top awards, consolation prizes will be presented to the top 10 finalists from each geopolitical zone, including gadgets, internship or employment opportunities, and recognition as Tax Reform Youth Ambassadors.
The ambassadors will be tasked with promoting fiscal literacy and encouraging youth participation in national tax conversations.
