The FBI’s Salt Lake City Field Office has released new video footage of the suspect accused of fatally shooting conservative activist Charlie Kirk on September 10, 2025, as the nationwide manhunt intensifies.
In a statement shared on X Friday, the bureau said the footage shows the suspect climbing onto a rooftop shortly before the shooting at Utah Valley University, then jumping off and fleeing immediately after firing the fatal shots.
Investigators later recovered the weapon and ammunition believed to have been used in the killing in a nearby wooded area.
“The subject climbed onto a rooftop around 12 p.m. Mountain Time. After he shot and killed Charlie Kirk, he jumped off and ran away. He left a gun and ammunition in a wooded area near the university,” the FBI said.
The agency added that trace evidence from the rooftop included shoe impressions, a forearm imprint, and a palm print. Authorities urged anyone with information to call 1-800-CALL-FBI or visit fbi.gov/utahvalleyshooting.
The FBI also confirmed it is working closely with local law enforcement to bring Kirk’s killer to justice.
On Thursday, the bureau released initial photos of a person of interest and announced a $100,000 reward for information leading to the suspect’s identification and arrest.
Meanwhile, two individuals falsely identified online as suspects told AFP they were living in fear after being targeted by misinformation, as the hunt for the real gunman continues.
Kirk, 31, a close ally of Donald Trump and leader of Turning Point USA, the country’s largest conservative youth movement, was shot dead while attending an event on campus. His assassination has sent shockwaves through U.S. political circles.
