Nollywood actress and filmmaker Fathia Balogun has spoken out against claims suggesting tension between her and fellow actress Funke Akindele, describing the reports as false and misleading.
The speculation followed Fathia’s birthday celebration on February 5, when Funke Akindele publicly sent her a congratulatory message. Fathia replied with “Ose Iya Ibeji,” a respectful Yoruba expression of gratitude.
Shortly after the exchange, a blogger took to social media to suggest that Fathia’s response appeared awkward, sparking rumours of an alleged rift between the two actresses.
Reacting to the claims, Fathia dismissed the narrative, insisting there is no conflict between her and Funke. She accused bloggers of deliberately creating drama and pushing unfounded stories for attention.
Speaking during a live video session, the actress cautioned bloggers to stay out of her personal and professional relationships. She stressed that Funke’s birthday message was sincere and that her response had been wrongly interpreted.
Fathia also addressed references to past rumours linking both actresses to alleged misunderstandings, including reports that Funke had once unfollowed or blocked her over claims of unreturned support at events.
According to Fathia, such stories are exaggerated and often taken out of context, urging the public to disregard online speculation that thrives on misinformation.
The actress concluded by calling for responsible blogging and respect for personal boundaries, noting that not every interaction between public figures should be turned into controversy.
