Nollywood actress and filmmaker Fathia Balogun Williams has announced the death of her mother, who passed away on February 7, just two days after the actress celebrated her 55th birthday.
Balogun, who turned 55 on February 5, shared the news via a heartfelt post on social media, describing her late mother as her strongest supporter, prayer partner, and closest companion.
The actress expressed deep sorrow over the loss, admitting that the reality of her mother’s death was still difficult to grasp. She noted that the timing of the loss made it even more painful, coming shortly after what was meant to be a joyful birthday period.
According to Balogun, her mother died on the eve of her birthday celebration, but the news was deliberately withheld from her at the time. She said the decision was made to protect her emotionally during the celebration.
In her message, the actress explained that the family has chosen to grieve privately for now and appealed to friends, colleagues, and fans to keep them in their prayers.
She added that burial arrangements would be communicated at a later date.
Balogun described her mother as a rare gift, saying she was not only a parent but also a confidant and source of strength. She noted that while she finds comfort in her faith, the loss remains profound for the entire family.
