Leeds United manager Daniel Farke has attributed his side’s 3–1 Premier League victory over Chelsea on Wednesday night to the exceptional work rate and quality displayed by his players throughout the encounter.
At Elland Road, Leeds produced one of their most commanding performances of the season, with goals from Ao Tanaka, Jaka Bijol, and Dominic Calvert-Lewin sealing all three points against the visiting Blues.
Reflecting on the result, Farke said the triumph was well-earned, stressing that his team rose to the occasion against a Chelsea side he described as one of the strongest in world football.
“We were so desperate to bring this club back to the top level, and Elland Road was back to its best,” Farke told the BBC.
“A great, great shift from my lads, great performance against one of the best sides in the world.
“They won the [Club] World Cup in the summer, they are one of the contenders for the Premier League title, and then to win this game, also in this manner, and I would also say deserved by chances, expected goals, shots, shots on target.”
The win lifted Leeds out of the relegation zone, while Chelsea dropped to fourth place on the league table.
