The family of veteran Nollywood actress, Peju Ogunmola, has clarified the circumstances surrounding the death of her only son, Sola Ayomikun Omobolanle, amid growing speculation online.
In a statement released on Friday by family spokesperson Yemi Amodu, the Ogunmolas confirmed that Ayomikun passed away in Ibadan after a brief illness, not from a bathroom accident as widely reported on social media.
“It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved son, a shining light who touched many lives,” the statement read. The family added that Ayomikun received quality medical care before his passing and has since been laid to rest at Eternal Rest Home, Ibadan.
They strongly cautioned against the spread of unverified reports, stressing that claims of a bathroom fall were false and insensitive. “Such misleading stories dishonour his memory and deepen the pain of those mourning him,” the statement warned.
The family expressed appreciation for the outpouring of condolences from colleagues, fans, and well-wishers, while praying that no other family would endure a similar tragedy.
Tributes have continued to flood social media since the news broke on Tuesday, with actress Biola Adebayo describing the loss as “devastating and heartbreaking.”
The Nigerian film industry remains in mourning as colleagues and fans rally around the Ogunmola family during this difficult period.
