A family in Gitaru, Kiambu County, is counting losses after their home was gutted by a fire reportedly sparked by fireworks set off by their child on New Year’s Eve.
The child’s mother said the blaze started when a firework was ignited inside the bedroom, destroying all household items, including new school uniforms that had been purchased ahead of the January school reopening.
