Popular Nigerian rapper and activist Folarin Falana, known as Falz, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to resign, citing the administration’s inability to curb the country’s worsening insecurity.
Falz shared his views on X by reposting a 2014 tweet from Tinubu, in which the president demanded the resignation of former President Goodluck Jonathan over terrorism. In his post, Falz criticized Tinubu for failing to protect citizens despite past claims of concern.
“You have consistently shown your unwillingness to protect the lives and property of our people despite pretending to care in the past. Resign now!” he wrote.
The escalating insecurity in Nigeria, particularly jihadist attacks against Christians, has drawn international attention. At a UN event on Tuesday, alongside US Ambassador to the United Nations Michael Waltz, rapper Nicki Minaj urged immediate action against the persecution of Nigerian Christians. She called for peace, unity, and freedom of worship, while commending US President Donald Trump for speaking out on the issue.
Falz’s remarks reflect growing domestic frustration with the government’s handling of insecurity, as citizens and international figures alike push for urgent solutions.
