Nollywood actress and filmmaker Faithia Williams has announced her return to work following the burial of her mother, as she turns her attention to promoting her debut cinema production, Efunroye: The Unicorn.
The film, scheduled for release on May 1, 2026, tells the story of Efunroye Tinubu, a prominent Yoruba aristocrat and influential merchant in the 19th century.
In a message shared on Instagram, Williams expressed appreciation to fans, colleagues, and loved ones for their support during her period of mourning. She described the past weeks as emotionally challenging for her and her family.
While confirming that her mother has been laid to rest, the actress revealed that a larger celebration of her life and legacy has been postponed until next year, when the family plans a more elaborate tribute.
Williams said she is now redirecting her energy into her work, describing Efunroye: The Unicorn as a deeply personal and meaningful project. She also announced that promotional activities for the film are set to begin.
The actress further indicated openness to collaborations and partnerships as she prepares to take the project to a wider audience.
Her return marks a transition from personal loss to professional focus, as anticipation builds ahead of the film’s release, which is expected to spotlight a significant figure in Yoruba history.
