At least three Premier League clubs attempted to prise Kobbie Mainoo away from Manchester United on a season-long loan during the summer transfer window, according to the Daily Mail.
Everton, Aston Villa, and Tottenham Hotspur all made approaches for the England international, who himself was open to a temporary switch in search of more regular minutes. However, United were unwilling to sanction any deal and insisted on keeping the highly rated midfielder at Old Trafford.
Interest in Mainoo was not limited to England. French giants Marseille, along with Serie A duo Napoli and Roma, also expressed their desire to secure his services before the window closed.
In a separate development, Turkish side Besiktas have reignited their pursuit of Arsenal forward Leandro Trossard. Reports from Sozcu Spor claim the Super Lig club have tabled a €25 million bid for the Belgian international.
The offer comes amid speculation surrounding Trossard’s future following the arrivals of Eberechi Eze and Noni Madueke at the Emirates this summer.
