Nollywood actress Evans Okoro has publicly challenged her colleague Ekene Umenwa over an alleged claim that she is living with the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV).
The controversy emerged after Okoro’s name reportedly appeared on a list of Nollywood figures allegedly discussed by Umenwa in conversations with UK-based Nigerian nurse Adanma Waller.
In a video shared on Instagram, Okoro expressed shock over the allegation and called on Umenwa to clarify whether she made the statement attributed to her.
Speaking in a mix of English and Pidgin, the actress questioned why her name was included on a list allegedly linking her to HIV. She also appealed for the truth to come to light, saying she had initially defended Umenwa and urged others to hear her side of the story.
Okoro said the claim had caused emotional distress within her family, adding that her mother was deeply upset by the reports. She maintained that if the allegation was fabricated, those responsible should be held accountable.
The dispute adds to ongoing tensions within Nollywood. It comes shortly after another controversy involving actress Destiny Etiko, who reportedly accused Umenwa of alleging that she assaulted her mother.
As of press time, Umenwa had not publicly responded to Okoro’s latest remarks.
