Veteran Nollywood actress and evangelist Eucharia Anunobi has spoken about the emotional difficulties she experienced during her marriage to her former husband, Charles Ekwu.
The actress shared her story during a recent appearance on The Honest Bunch Podcast, where she reflected on the challenges she faced while the relationship lasted.
In the interview, which was shared on Instagram, Anunobi became emotional while recounting the experience and addressed her ex-husband directly, stating that her account of events was truthful.
“Charles Ekwu, if you see this video, just know I am not lying against you,” she said.
Anunobi explained that although her parents had warned her about the relationship early on, she chose to remain in the marriage because she believed things would improve.
According to the actress, she stayed hopeful that the promises made at the beginning of the relationship would eventually materialise.
“I still held onto the marriage believing that it’s alright, we will be fine. He’s the same person that said he would be there with me through thick and thin,” she said.
However, she described the marriage as increasingly difficult, particularly from an emotional and financial standpoint.
The actress claimed she carried most of the responsibilities in the home, alleging that she was largely responsible for supporting the family financially during the relationship.
Recalling her parents’ earlier concerns about the union, Anunobi said they had advised her against going ahead with the marriage.
Despite those warnings, she said she chose to remain committed at the time, hoping the situation would change.
