Nigerian actress and engineer, Etinosa Idemudia, has stirred reactions after claiming that acting is more demanding than engineering.
Speaking on a recent episode of the Bold Enough To Say It podcast, the Nollywood star reflected on her journey across both professions, stating that acting requires far more energy and emotional investment.
Drawing from her personal experience, Idemudia explained that the creative industry can be mentally draining and unpredictable compared to the structured routine of engineering.
“I’ve worked as an engineer and also as an actor. No disrespect to my colleagues in engineering, but acting is far more tasking. It’s a crazy kind of work, only for the mentally strong,” she said during the interview.
She further urged her colleagues in the film industry to value their work and not allow people from other professions to belittle them.
“Don’t let those who close by 5 p.m. come and insult us,” she added jokingly.
Her remarks have since gone viral, sparking mixed opinions among social media users. While some agreed that acting demands emotional resilience and long working hours, others argued that engineering presents its own technical and intellectual challenges.
The conversation continues online as fans and professionals weigh in on which career, art or science, truly requires more from its practitioners.
