Nollywood actress Etinosa Idemudia has criticized men who use coercion, threats, or oppression to keep their partners from leaving relationships or marriages.
In a post shared via her Instagram page, the actress questioned the mindset behind forcing someone to remain in a relationship, pointing out that peace and happiness cannot exist in such an environment.
Etinosa stressed that both relationships and marriages should be based on mutual respect, trust, and consent, not fear or control.
“Some men are very foolish! After using oppression to forcefully bring your wife back to the house, will you be comfortable sleeping in that house and eating that same woman’s food?” she wrote.
She went on to emphasize the importance of respecting personal boundaries, saying the word “No” must be acknowledged in all situations.
“Marriage should not be by force. No means No, and that should apply to other things being gRape!” she added, using the term to condemn acts of sexual coercion.
Etinosa’s post has since drawn widespread support online, with many fans applauding her for addressing the issue of domestic coercion and emotional abuse, especially in a society where women are often pressured to stay in toxic relationships.
The actress, who is known for her outspoken advocacy on gender equality and women’s rights, has consistently used her platform to raise awareness about abuse and promote healthier relationship dynamics.
