Enyimba International FC have placed head coach Stanley Eguma on suspension following a continued dip in form, culminating in Sunday’s disappointing 1-0 home defeat to Wikki Tourists in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
The club confirmed on Monday that assistant coaches Ndubuisi Nduka and Joseph Boma have also been asked to step aside as part of an immediate shake-up aimed at halting the team’s worrying run.
Sunday’s loss was Enyimba’s second home defeat of the 2025/26 NPFL season, a poor record for the two-time CAF Champions League winners, who are widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s leading football clubs.
In response to the crisis, the club’s hierarchy has appointed Lawrence Ukaegbu to take temporary charge of the team. Ukaegbu will lead the squad as Enyimba commence a comprehensive performance audit ahead of their crucial matchday 14 encounter against Katsina United scheduled to hold in Jos.
Enyimba currently sit 11th on the NPFL standings, having accumulated 17 points from 13 matches — a return that falls below the expectations of fans and stakeholders at the Aba-based club.
The management emphasised that the suspensions are part of broader efforts to restore stability, improve team performance, and revive their push for relevance in the ongoing league campaign.
