The nine-time champions of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), Enyimba FC, will formally unveil Deji Ayeni as their new technical adviser next week. The Aba-based “People’s Elephant” finalized the move to bring in the seasoned strategist to spearhead the club’s campaign for the second stanza of the 2025/2026 season.
This appointment follows a period of transition for the club, which began in November when the management suspended the former technical adviser, Stanley Eguma, citing a string of unsatisfactory performances and poor results on the pitch.
Since Eguma’s departure, Lawrence Ukaegbu has overseen the first-team affairs in an interim capacity, maintaining stability within the squad during the recruitment process. The 53-year-old Ayeni arrives with a wealth of experience in the Nigerian football landscape, having most recently served as the manager of the Nigeria National League (NNL) side, Crown FC of Ogbomosho. His coaching pedigree includes notable stints at other high-profile Nigerian clubs, such as Sunshine Stars and Akwa United, where he earned a reputation for tactical discipline and player development.
Enyimba’s leadership expects Ayeni to revitalize the squad and improve their standings in the league as they enter the business end of the season.
