Enyimba Football Club has categorically denied claims that it imposed a 50 percent salary reduction on players following their recent defeat to Wikki Tourists, labeling the reports as false and irresponsible.
The clarification came on Tuesday after widespread media reports alleged that the nine-time NPFL champions had issued a pay-cut notice to the squad and suspended the coaching staff following Sunday’s 1–0 loss in Aba.
While the club recently parted ways with technical adviser Stanley Eguma and his assistants due to a poor run of results, Enyimba emphasized that no financial sanctions were imposed on players or staff.
In an official statement, the club described the story as “purely a figment of the writer’s imagination and should be disregarded by the general public.” Enyimba confirmed that it had not authorized, initiated, or implemented any form of wage reduction and urged supporters and media outlets to dismiss the claims.
The statement further expressed concern that the allegation originated from a platform that failed to verify the information through official club channels, reaffirming Enyimba’s commitment to professionalism in its dealings with both players and staff.
