Former Kaduna State Governor and African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain, Malam Nasir el-Rufai, has called on Northern governors to embrace technology and drive digitalisation across the region.
He also urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to leverage digital tools in preparation for the 2027 elections.
El-Rufai made the remarks at the premiere of “Fasahar Zamani”, a digital technology-themed movie in Abuja. Produced by Blue Sapphire Hub with funding from UK Development International, the 12-episode series is in Hausa with English subtitles, designed to bridge the digital divide in Northern Nigeria.
Highlighting the North’s lag in technology adoption, El-Rufai stressed the need for regional leaders to train digital entrepreneurs and provide them with seed funding to foster innovation and economic growth.
Maryam Lawan, founder of Blue Sapphire Hub, described Fasahar Zamani as “more than just a series; it is a story of innovation, inclusion, and transformation.”
She added that each episode demonstrates how technology can change lives, create opportunities, and empower communities throughout Northern Nigeria.
