Nigeria’s anti-corruption agency, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), is set to arraign former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, over multiple corruption-related allegations.
According to the commission, the arraignment will take place on Tuesday at the Federal High Court in Kaduna, where El-Rufai is expected to appear alongside a co-defendant, Joel Adoga.
The ICPC said the charges include alleged unlawful conversion and possession of public assets, as well as money laundering offences. In addition, the commission disclosed that a separate case has been filed before the Kaduna State High Court involving El-Rufai and another defendant, Amadu Sule.
The second case reportedly centres on allegations of abuse of office, fraud, and the conferral of undue advantage, marking an expansion of the legal challenges facing the former governor. Both cases were filed on March 18, 2026.
While the Federal High Court matter is scheduled for March 24, the date for proceedings at the state high court is yet to be announced. The commission confirmed that all parties involved have been duly served with the charges.
The ICPC emphasised that the prosecution forms part of its broader mandate to enforce accountability and uphold the rule of law in the fight against corruption.
