The ongoing investigation into alleged breaches of protocol involving former governor Nasir El-Rufai has resulted in the arrest of five security officers by the Department of State Services (DSS).
Security sources said the arrests followed a coordinated inter-agency inquiry into operational procedures and conduct during airport-related security activities.
The review reportedly examined whether established guidelines were properly followed and whether any personnel acted outside their official mandates.
According to officials familiar with the development, the investigation brought together representatives from multiple security and regulatory bodies to assess events linked to the case. The findings of the committee are said to have led to disciplinary action against the affected officers.
The detained personnel are currently undergoing further administrative review, while authorities continue to evaluate evidence gathered during the probe. Officials stressed that the process is intended to ensure accountability and reinforce professional standards across security agencies.
They added that additional steps may be taken depending on the outcome of ongoing investigations, noting that due process will be observed in line with existing laws and institutional regulations.
