The Edo State Police Command has announced the appointment of CSP Tomofe Nwabueze as the new Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government Area.
The Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, approved the posting with immediate effect as part of a strategic reorganisation of the Ekpoma Division.
The move follows last weekend’s violent disturbances involving youths and students from the university community, reportedly triggered by concerns over kidnappings and killings in the area.
CSP Nwabueze succeeds the former DPO, Nelson Igbinoba.
Confirming the development, the Command’s spokesperson, Eno Ikoedem, said in a statement on Tuesday, “As part of ongoing security assessment and strategic repositioning in Ekpoma, CP Monday Agbonika has ordered the reorganisation of the Ekpoma Division and approved the posting of CSP Tomofe Nwabueze as the new DPO, effective immediately”.
The Edo State Police Command assured residents that the reorganisation aims to strengthen law enforcement, improve public safety, and restore peace in the community.
